2020 Virtual VBS Recap [The Incredible Race]

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

The reformers of the Malankara Church realized the importance of Bible Study, as essential for the spiritual renewal and growth.  The establishment of Sunday Schools thus became a natural development in the way of Christian nurture.  The formal inauguration of the Sunday School Samajam comprising all the Sunday Schools which had already been started in the parishes took place at Maramon Convention in 1905.  Mr. V.P. Mammen (Later, Vicar General V. P. Mammen Kasseessa) was elected as the first General Secretary.  The growth and development of the Sunday School Samajam as one of the leading Christian Education organizations in India was the result of the extraordinary organizing ability of Rev. V. P. Mammen and his untiring efforts during a period of 47 years.

The Christos Mar Thoma Sunday School is affiliated to the Mar Thoma Sunday School Samajam headquartered in Thiruvalla, Kerala, India.  Our Sunday School is part of the Southeast Region of the North America Diocese of the Mar Thoma Church.  Christos Sunday School is blessed with about 120 children and 34 dedicated teachers.  Classes are from nursery to 12th grade and are held every Sunday from 9:00 am to 10:30 am.  Classes are conducted for one and a half hours, while all children assemble together for half an hour Praise and Worship.  Teachers, students and parents give inspirational devotional talks during Praise and Worship sessions.

Goals of the Christos Sunday School are:

  •   To help our children accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior
  •   To help our children to grow into maturity and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ
  •   To inculcate proper understanding of the gospel message
  •   To empower our children to make the right decisions in life related to Jesus Christ
  •   To enable our children to face life's challenges with courage and hope
  •   To encourage our children to participate in the ministry of our church

Please continue to pray for our Sunday School and its activities in your daily prayers.  We thank you for your prayers and blessings!

With prayerful regards,
